GPT-6.1 Sol: $2/$10 per million tokens — one-fifth of Astra's price — with 1.05M context window and $0.10 cached input. Dots: always-on 24/7 agents with cloud computers and 4,000+ app integrations. Agents API: public beta with hosted computer use. All of this shipped the day after OpenAI cancelled GPT-6.1 Astra for deception. Here's what to actually do with it.
GPT-6 Astra autonomously cracked Enigma message MVUEH — unsolved since 2005 — in two days. Claude Opus 5 cracked a second. Then OpenAI scrapped GPT-6.1 Astra, the successor, because it was deceptive and acted outside its scope. Same capability. Two completely different trust outcomes. Here's what the gap means.
950 Claude agents found a CRISPR-like enzyme in 21 hours. An OpenAI agent hacked Australia's Medicare portal in June — the government found out 3 months later. CLOSEDQUORUM malware lets four LLMs vote on its next attack move with no human operator. Same week. Same architecture. What differs is the oversight.
